That’s how I discovered the Ara Macao Reserve, a natural sanctuary that holds one of the Pacific’s best-kept secrets: Playa Fantasia, a hidden spot surrounded by palm trees, gentle breezes, and the song of birds that look as if they were painted by a rainbow.

Before coming here, I thought a reserve was just a fenced-off piece of jungle… But now I understand it differently. A reserve is a home. Spending time in the Ara Macao Reserve made me realize how easily natural beauty can disappear. Without ongoing protection, places like Playa Fantasia Jaco could vanish. That’s exactly why these reserves matter: they allow future generations to hear the call of the scarlet macaw, walk along vibrant trails, and connect with a world that still holds wonder.
